Last weekend, May 23rd – 24th, was definitely the Big Weekend for all the entrepreneurs that had a new business idea – Startup Weekend Riga unfolded at H2O centre at RISEBA.
The event lasted for 54 hours and gathered more than 100 participants from Latvia and abroad. Its main idea was to allow the young entrepreneurs, developers, designers, marketing and sales experts to try on “startup” shoes, i.e. – present their own startup ideas, then choose the best one, create a team by attracting the best specialists, develop a product or a prototype and present it to the judges. The best participants were awarded prizes! Perhaps some ideas would be seen by Venture Capitalists and their funding would breathe live and those dreams come true.
Two of our developers – Ros Pavlov and Alexander Semionov – have successfully taken part in this Startup Weekend Riga. They formed a team with other participants and developed a PaintBot Startup. Their main idea was: creating a programmable drawing robot that would help a child to learn easily the basic principles of programming. It was also a way to discover how to have fun while drawing with a Robot’s help.
We got it!
Amazingly, the PaintBot Startup has got a special prize from Microsoft Latvia as the only “moving” product at the entire event. Diatom Team expresses its congratulations to the whole PaintBot Startup Team! Great work!
